International Network & Artists Village
The AAA is a movement under the Nokwe Creative Foundation was formed during discussions with our Mauritius, Zimbabwean, Mozambique and Tanzanian counterparts. We took action for the need to engage on a continental level in the Arts & Culture development arena.
We resolved to form partnerships with like-minded institutions to foster the realization and engage with all African countries.
Method
We intend to initiate workshops to engage art practitioners , mentors & teachers around issues of relevance of the Arts within broader vision of The African Renaissance.
We will first workshop artists on the AU, Nepad and all its consistencies and then move to the phase of the creation of the Africa Artists VillagelopmentThis village will serve as the African Heritage ody of authority and a skills development / teacher training centre. We hope that the African Artists will start to feel part of the vision and gain a reader understanding of the forward motion of the continent

The Artist’s Village
SADC ACADEMY OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS
With the genocide of African music and cultural heritage at its peak , we hope that the village will also serve as a centre for preservation, development and promotion of African Heritage. We see the village as an academy for visual and Performing arts that will be instrumental in guiding schools and universities on how to set in motion the transformation of African culture and Arts Teaching
The interaction amongst artists from SADC will lead to discussion on the first African Artists Village that will be a home to create a cadre of Master trainers who will then be custodians and transmitters of our heritage .The stakeholders will set a program of action that will ensure that other practitioners ,youth and children become beneficiaries of this initiative. We hope that this will be part of the development and strategies as envisioned in the AU and Nepad programs
The village will have 14 resident musicians from SADC countries that will undergo a 9 month intensive development and empowerment program to equip them with knowledge and skills to be effective facilitators of the SADC CUltural Ambassodor Program. At the end of the 9 month program the master trainers will be hosted y another SADC country to implement the program in that country and help address challenges encountered by artist in that region
- Artists do not earn a regular salary at the end of every month, so the maintenance of a decent lifestyle can be challenging and almost impossible
- Basic Human needs are rarely met, as jobs are never guaranteed and payments due hardly on time and sometimes don’t reach the artist
- Decent living conditions with family are for a chosen few and hard to come by
- Artsis are expected to always deliver high standard & good quality performances when there is a call to do do
- An Artist can be royalty one minute and a pauper the next
The village will not only to develop teachers but be the centre for the creation of African Music instruments that will be needed to facilitate the implementation of the curriculum. A variety of African instruments from SADC will be made and taught with pride and thus elevating to the same level as European music teaching
The village will serve as a rehabilitation centre , a sacred space for holistic healing for Spiritual,Physical and Mental Health. A health clinic will be set up to provide medical support to complement the rehabilitation program!
SADC ENSEMBLE
The resident master teachers will also form a band that will tour SADC countries playing only African instruments they created and promote Africa Arts Development
AFRICAN MUSICAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Musicans that have been identified to be part of the program will also be given an opportunity to go on a 1 month visit to other African countries to receive first hand training on their music and music styles. This will broaden their scope as musicians and teachers.
The opportunity will foster musical ,cultural and heritage respect amongst African artists
There is a need for a place of safety where Artists can retire with dignity , where they can hise away and rejuvenate , where they can relax and use their lives fully and positively to serve humanity without the threat of poverty .This will be a place for artists to regain their dignity , where they can acquire ,maintain and manage a bank of ancient knowledge.. cultural values and indigenous music & arts.In this sacred place, artists can lead healthy, secure & happy lives…..
