Joy The Musical’s Southern Africa tour burst to life in mid-April, weaving together Tanzanian and South African artistry. Guided by Bwagamoyo Africulture , our on-ground team scouted coastal venues, built creative partnerships, and set the tone for a cross-continental celebration of rhythm, movement, and story.
Zanzibar: Foundations for Creativity

On 12 April, Dr Tu Nokwe landed in Zanzibar to collaborate with Moussa Diallo, founder of the Mali Festival. Their Nungwi meeting charted a roadmap for talent showcases, children’s publishing initiatives, and hands-on skills workshops that will nurture emerging artists along the Swahili coast.
Bagamoyo: Heritage Meets Innovation
Departing Zanzibar on 14 April, the crew touched down in Bagamoyo—where colonial ruins, mangrove forests, and dhow harbors fuel the creative spirit. Highlights included:

- A 16 April workshop at Tasuba in partnership with Africulture, blending acrobatics and traditional storytelling.
- Open-task days dedicated to community outreach, curriculum drafting, and venue scouting.
- Collaborative script-development sessions that wove local folklore into Joy’s narrative.
